Bergama (Pergamon) has an important place in terms of Agriculture in the Aegean Region due to olive and cotton. 45.396 hectares of the total area of 1,688 km² constitute the arable fields. The ratio of the agricultural land to the total area is 27%. There are 1840 hectares of fruit, 2924 hectares of vegetables, 1326 hectares of vineyards, 6950 hectares of olive, 2 hectares of citrus and 2 hectares of greenhouses. In addition to these, 14242 hectares of land is utilized for husbandry, 68310 hectares of forestry, 20000 hectares of grassland and 35094 hectares of land is non-arable. 80% of arable land in Bergama occurs from small businesses because of heritage and other reasons and this number is increasing day by day. Distribution of agricultural areas in the region: The number of plantations bigger than 500 decares is 21, there are 173 between 200-500 decares, 636 agricultural enterprises between 100-200 decares, 1.710 enterprises between 50-100 decares and there are 8705 between 1-50 decares. The total number of agricultural enterprises is 11245.

Geographical position of the region is quite favorable from an agricultural point of view. The lack of rainfall in recent years has led to a decrease in yield in some products; however the climate is generally suitable for agriculture. Owing to the annual general rainfall and average temperature of Bergama, and the techniques used, fertilizing and farmers keeping their enterprises up to date, the production per unit is above the country average. The harvest is; cotton 300kg/decares, wheat 300kg/decares, and tobacco are 75-100kg/decares. Overall economic potential of our county is composed of agro-industrial products.
